As part of Optum’s healthcare network, ProHEALTH Care offers highly trained health care providers, utilizing the latest technology, across the New York region.
The key design principles of this redesign were to:
- Design a single experience that combines primary care, specialty care and urgent care services
- Make locations and services easy to find
- Explain the different types of insurance accepted
- Drive ProHEALTH physicians to the doctor portal with ease
- Drive existing ProHEALTH patients/members to the member portal with ease
- Leverage SEO and paid search to surface key pages
The first step of the redesign were to construct User Flows & Personas for their key demographics – Younger Adults (18 – 49), Moms & Families, Older Adults (50+), Physicians interested in joining ProHEALTH – followed by a comprehensive and complete analysis of their existing site. The next step was to assemble all of my research and data so that I could begin building the site map.
From there I began crafting detailed wireframes for both desktop and mobile. By focusing on “mobile first”, I was able to create an experience for users who wanted to immediate access to care providers within their area. Utilizing Google Maps API, I constructed a prototype for their Healthcare Provider Lookup Tool (see video below) which would allow users to search by geographical location, type of care and specialty, and filter these results by distance, handicap accessibility, public transportation, and more.
I worked closely with the dev team so that my wireframes adhered to Optum’s established framework. Decisions were made in real-time since we were working under a strict timeline. In the end many of the features I had originally proposed were sacrificed in order to maintain our firm site launch date. My solutions were key in maintaining a positive relationship with both the client and the dev team, and allowed me the opportunity to work with Optum again on Southwest Medical Associates.
Healthcare Provider Lookup Tool
Patients are able to find a specific doctor or facility by utilizing the Google Maps API, and narrow their search with specific filters.
A step-by-step process demonstrating how a patient, upon arriving at the homepage, selects a specific type of care. Once they’ve arrived at the care page, you can see how the patient is able to look for a facility based on speciality and location.
